What To Wear in Vegas: During the Day and for Going Out
You’re going about your day, and your bestie texts you — impromptu Vegas trip, anyone? The answer? Yes: Vegas is always a good idea.
At first, you’re excited; then, you’re in planning mode. What outfits are you going to wear? What are you going to pack?
Fortunately, we’ve all felt overwhelmed about packing for a trip at least once in our lives. This is where I come in. I’m going to help you plan what outfits to wear during the day in Vegas and at night so that every moment is picture perfect.
The one thing to remember about Las Vegas is that, during most seasons, the weather will be warm (sometimes very, very) hot. Because of the dry, desert air, the days will be sunny and hot, and the nights are usually cool, so there are a lot of different options for clothing. Basically, the summers are scorching, and the winters are chilly.
With this in mind, let’s plan those Vegas outfits:
What To Wear in Vegas During the Day
If your trip to Las Vegas is taking place in the summertime, make sure to pack light, breezy, comfortable clothes for your daytime adventures.
Here are some show-stopping ideas:
Dresses
The most obvious choice in breezy attire would be a sundress. Because of the scorching sun, wearing a dress that’s made of cotton or linen would be ideal for your comfort as you walk around and explore the city in the daytime. This Huipil Chiotl dress by designer Denisse Kuri is made of 100% cotton, which will be a huge relief when walking down the Las Vegas Strip at noon with the sun blazing.
If you’re looking to keep it casual during daylight hours, maybe you’d want to opt for a midi or maxi dress that’s made of either cotton or linen. An essential T-shirt dress is a cute yet casual outfit for strolling the Las Vegas Strip. The Vestido Corto Dar is an environmentally-friendly and runway-friendly t-shirt dress that combines comfort with luxury. What could be more Vegas than that?
Skirts
The next few items of clothing you should be packing for Vegas would be flowy, breathable skirts that you can pair with a tank top or a T-shirt. A striped, flowy maxi skirt from Pamela Stevenson would pair well with a strappy tank top, sleeveless bodysuit, or even a plain, white tee.
Or you could even try tucking a black t-shirt into this linen skirt by Ephedra that would keep an outfit casual yet chic. Add in a pair of leather sandals and grace the casino of your choosing.
Shoes
If you don’t plan on spending a ton of time in the hotel room and have adventures on the to-do list, it’s best to plan ahead.
If you’re heading to the wave pool and lazy river at the Mandalay Bay, slip into your favorite sandals. Or, if you’re touring the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, wear shoes that you don’t mind getting covered in dust and dirt.
Walking all day? Arch support. Always arch support.
Bathing Suits
One of the most fun parts of being in Las Vegas during the daytime is the famous pool parties. They’re a fab way for you to meet new people, let loose, and ultimately have fun! As you head to Las Vegas’s best pools, make sure you have sunscreen and sunglasses with you, too.
Because the infamous Vegas pool parties are more like being at the club, but by a pool, a lot of times, people will be dressed in their best bathing suits and might not actually get in the water.
There also may be a limit on how much skin you can show, especially if the pool is open to the general public. Even if it isn’t, it’s best to bring a coverup with you for walking to the pool and walking around the vicinity.
For a fun bathing suit option, this one-piece swimsuit by Ilora is the perfect balance between flirty and sexy with the deep neckline and the flouncy sleeves. Pair it with a floppy, wide-brimmed hat. Go extra daring and add a pair of black heels.
Two-piece bathing suits are also always fashionable, so bring a bikini or tankini if you prefer to wear those as opposed to a one-piece bathing suit. If you’re looking for a more sexy swimsuit, a strappy, open-back with a plunging neckline like Ilora’s black Peron swimsuit is the ultimate high-fashion option.
Vegas at Night
Now that you’ve recovered from your day in Vegas, it’s time to prepare for your night out on the town. If you plan on getting dinner, going to the casinos, and/or hitting the club, you’re in luck. The dress codes in Vegas vary wildly. This is an opportunity to bring out your entire wardrobe and flaunt every piece you love.
Here are some outfit ideas for a night out in Vegas:
Dressed to the Nines
Once the sun goes down in Vegas, most people are out in slightly more formal wear than during the daytime. If you’re heading out to the casino, you might want to switch out that sundress for a classic LBD with an open back or a mini dress with sequins.
A little white dress could even work for a night out in Las Vegas, like this Olivia dress with green palms from Anana Store Colombia. The spaghetti straps and front tie detail make this dress classy yet sexy and would pair well with neutral-colored heels and a denim or leather jacket if you want to add a layer. This dress is the dessert of the desert, and I love it.
If you don’t want to wear a dress, a blouse and dress pants are acceptable at most high-end restaurants, and a chic jumpsuit will hardly ever let you down. If you do want to wear jeans, just remember that some clubs don’t allow denim, so check the destination’s dress code ahead of time.
Step Right Up
As far as footwear goes, you still want to be comfortable. But, since you’ll most likely be doing more sitting in the casinos and at restaurants, you might want to switch out walking shoes for a pair of heels or strappy sandals.
If you’re wearing a mini dress, you might want to opt for a block heel or stiletto, which can elongate your legs and dress your look up even more. If you prefer not to wear heels, a more casual dress shoe like a flat sandal or a pair of slip-on mules could also work.
Outerwear
Because the nights in Vegas can be chilly, even in the summertime, you’ll want to check the weather ahead so you can pack your outerwear accordingly. Wearing something versatile like a sweater or denim jacket over your dress that can easily be shrugged off is a bright idea, especially if you’re going to dinner in an outdoor area.
Vacation In Style
Whether this is your first time going to Las Vegas or one of the many trips you’ve taken, it is sure to be a blast. There is so much to do and so much to see in this amazing city, and the best part is that there are so many different things you can wear both during the day and the evening.
Just remember to check out the dress codes of certain restaurants, pools, and clubs before you leave so you have an idea of what to or what not to pack, and then you should be good to go!
