What To Wear in Miami: 11 Outfit Ideas

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of the beach. Nothing can compare to the salty sea breeze flowing through my hair and rustling my maxi dress in the wind while walking barefoot through white sands. One of my favorite beach cities with much more to offer in Miami.

History of Miami

This coastal metropolis wasn’t always one of the largest cities in the United States. Looking into the history of Miami, you’ll see the original community was pretty small; it was called the “The Village of Miami.”

Miami grew quickly, with tourists and businesses seeking out fair skies and calm waters. Today, it’s a sprawling metropolis with a diverse community and a unique vibe.

Reasons To Visit Miami

When Miami comes to mind, I think of sprawling beaches and beautiful skylines. But Miami has much more to offer than just beaches and nightlife. From the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens to the Bayside Marketplace, there’s so much to see and do in Miami.

There is simply so much to do in Miami that I’m going to list my outfit recommendations by activity. Let’s dive in!

Dress for the Miami Sun

One thing that’s important when you visit any coastal town, but Miami especially, is to be aware of the weather. This plays a major factor in what you end up wearing.

Miami is known for sunny days and humidity, so I always pack light and breathable clothes. As a coastal city, though, Miami is prone to storms, so I always bring my rain boots and raincoat when I visit — no rain is going to disrupt my parade!

Miami Brunch Outfit

One of my favorite activities on vacation is brunch. There’s nothing quite as pleasing to me as sipping on a mimosa with my friends or family while munching on some of the best breakfast dishes the city offers.

When I head out to brunch, I usually opt for a floral dress that reflects the natural beauty of the city. Sometimes I’ll pair my dress with heels, but in Miami, I usually prefer luxe sandals since the beach is always on the menu.

Lastly, I love to accessorize with necklaces, earrings, and bracelets that all match.

Miami Beach Outfit

When visiting Miami, you, of course, have to visit the beaches. The beautiful white beaches with gorgeous crystal clear waters are one of the most iconic features of The Magic City.

One of my favorite activities when visiting Miami is to pack a picnic and head out to the beaches. From there, I’ll spread out my beach blanket, unpack my picnic basket, and enjoy a good book with a view while I eat my lunch.

I’ve always got my go-to swimsuit underneath my outfit when visiting this Florida destination. After a light lunch and some reading, I’ll pop off my cover-up (a must-have in Miami) and hop into the water for a refreshing and energizing swim.

There’s nothing like the feeling of lying in the warm sun after a cold swim.

Sight-Seeing Tour Outfit for Miami

Another bucket-list activity when visiting Miami is a sightseeing tour. This is especially smart if you have never been to the city. It helps you get familiar with the history and the culture and allows you to further explore elements of Miami later on your own.

From taking an airboat tour of the Everglades to a helicopter tour of the city of Miami, there is no limit to the type of tours you can take. I like to take a bus tour through the city to enjoy the open air.

When taking sightseeing tours, I like to wear some of my favorite athleisure since I know I’ll likely be moving around and in the hot summer sun. A pair of bike shorts with my sports bra, along with a crop top, is the ultimate look for sightseeing in Miami.

Everglade Tour Outfit

Another iconic feature of Miami is the Everglades. This National Park is home to a vibrant ecosystem and the only place in the world where both alligators and crocodiles coexist. I love taking airboat tours of the Everglades to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Sportswear is a must when it comes to visiting the Everglades. Whether I’m hiking trails or simply taking a boat ride, wearing activewear allows me to remain comfortable and cool. I usually wear leggings paired with a sports bra and crop top, along with my trusty tennis shoes, when I tour the Everglades.

Perfect Outfit for Little Havana

You can’t visit Miami without enjoying the beautiful culture and rich foods of Little Havana. This is the neighborhood that houses much of Miami’s Cuban population. 

Many Cubans immigrated to Miami in the 20th century, and thus Little Havana was born. You can enjoy delicious Cuban food, music shows, and more in Little Havana.

I wear a sundress with comfortable sandals when visiting Little Havana. This keeps me feeling cool and breezy while looking and feeling confident. I add a wide-brimmed sun hat and sunglasses to up the look.

Head Out To Enjoy the Nightlife

Like every big city, Miami has fun and vivacious nightlife. From hitting a local cocktail bar for casual drinks with friends to heading to dance the night away at different nightclubs, there’s no limit to Miami’s nightlife.

I like to head out in my favorite outfits for the clubs when I visit Miami’s downtown. A pair of pumps with a mini dress is an unbeatable outfit for warm summer nights in Miami. Throw on a moto jacket to add to the cool-girl look.

Outfit Ideas for a Night Out in Miami

Miami nightlife is world-famous, so naturally, I had to devote an entire section to it. Here’s my review of nightlife attire for Miami:

Sundress with a Cute Sun Hat

Who doesn’t love an excuse to wear a sundress? When visiting Miami, I love to bring sundresses. I like to pair them with some cute sandals and a hat that gives off beach vibes. You can usually find me with a tote bag full of everything needed for a picnic on the beach.

Wearing Lingerie as a Shirt

One trend I love for nights out in Miami is wearing lingerie as outerwear. Cute bodysuits and sexy tops make for a fantastic basis for any outfit. 

To put together this ensemble, I style a shirt over a lacy bra and pair the whole thing with trousers or a skirt.

Moto Jacket with Matching Moto Boots

A look that would look fabulous on its own or even with the outfit mentioned above is the combination of a moto jacket and corresponding moto boots. Nothing gives off the cool girl look more than some leather. To balance it, go hardcore with a studded moto jacket, but pair it with a loose, silky blouse. 

Wearing a One-Piece Swimsuit with a Wrap Skirt

One of my staple looks in Miami is, of course, a swimsuit. I love to wear one-piece swimsuits as a top with a gorgeous wrap skirt as my bottoms. Paired with a cute hat, sandals, and the perfect accessories, I’ve got a stunning look that makes me feel great.

Floral Sundresses as Cover-Ups

Floral sundresses, in particular, are my go-to to use as cover-ups when I’m having a beach day. The bright colors allow me to express my personality while also creating an adorable outfit.

Cruising Through Miami
