Five Different Shoes To Wear With Wide-Leg Pants

Five Different Shoes To Wear With Wide-Leg Pants

Skinny jeans definitely had their moment in the spotlight, but it’s time to share the glow because wide-leg pants have returned and are here to stay. Wide-leg pants are one of those pieces of clothing that everyone needs to have in their closet, right?

One of the many fab things about wide-leg pants is that they add a hint of dressiness. If you want the vibes of a chill night in but the essence of a five-star restaurant, wide-leg pants have your back.

Whether floor-length or cropped, high-waisted or mid-rise, soft fabrics like linen or polyester or denim, wide-leg pants are a versatile article of clothing. They can be worn with nearly any type of shirt or sweater. Wide-legs are perfect in the colder months and during the warmer months of spring and summer — it all depends on the fabric.

Another plus to owning a pair of wide-leg pants is that they elongate your legs and are universally flattering on any body type as they cinch the waist. They are also super comfortable and a fun diversion from skinny, form-fitting pants. These pants are all about joy, and I’m here for that.

Ok, so you’ve decided that wide-leg pants are on the menu for tonight. But, what shoes are you going to match with them?

Fortunately, because wide-leg pants come in many different colors and patterns, there are many options of shoes to choose from.

Today, I’m going to share several kinds of shoes that you can wear with wide-leg pants.

The Best Shoes for Wide-Leg Pants

The great thing about wide-leg pants is that, due to their versatility and overall flattering look, there are many, many choices of shoes that you can wear with them.

Here are five of my favorite examples:

Sneakers

The first and most basic choice of shoe that you can wear with wide-leg pants would be sneakers. From a timeless tennis shoe to a chunky athletic sneaker, you can pair any sneaker with wide-leg pants.

For instance, a white, casual sneaker would pair well with denim, tie-waist Pantalón Paz Denim wide-leg jeans from Sientochenta. Plus, they’re made from leftover industrial production, so you can look good and feel good.

Though a plain, white sneaker is fabulous with wide-leg pants, you might also want to try a bold color too. Try pairing a red sneaker with white, wide-leg crop pants and a gray T-shirt tucked in to add a pop of color to a neutral outfit.

For a cute, casual spring or summer look, you also could pair a tennis shoe with these hand embroidered linen Dalia Pants by Morena del Rey while also wearing this white Isa Top from Maria Isabel with an off -the-shoulder strap to give off a more relaxed vibe. It’s high fashion but deeply comfy. Yes, please.

Heels

A classic staple in anyone’s wardrobe, a pair of heels will go well with almost any kind of pants, especially wide-leg pants. Due to the shape of wide-leg pants giving your legs more length, adding a pair of pumps can add to the effect.

If you have a pair of wide-leg pants on the longer side, you might want to opt for wearing a pair of heels, especially if your pants touch the floor. That way, you can avoid potential tripping over the fabric. Plus, a high heel can balance out the length of the pants.

These black Danet pumps from Peyola would pair fabulously with any color of wide-leg pants, especially if you’re going for more of a formal take.

An example would be pairing those shoes with these Dual Color Pants, which would make for a gorgeous summertime pick for any formal event, like a wedding or dinner party. The slit in the calf will let the summer breeze cool you down, so you’re always feeling as fresh as your styling.

If you like adding a bold color, these chunky, blue Leda heels would be an amazing pop of color for your outfit. Nothing says summer like an open toe. Pair those oval heels with neutral-colored, wide-leg pants like the Orix Linen pants from designer Morena del Rey and a neutral top.

Sandals

Another great, practical shoe that pairs perfectly with wide-leg pants would definitely be sandals. From a casual, chunky footbed sandal to a stylish slide, these versatile shoes pair great with just about any bottom.

For a super fun option, you could pair these sustainable Odette Almond Sandals from Alta Shoes with black or white wide-leg cropped pants. You could also pair them with a pair of bold-colored pants like these gorgeous, bright red Pfieffer pants from Nabel Martins.

If you prefer a more casual take, some brown or black flat, slip-on sandals will pair excellently with olive green wide-leg pants, like the Pantalón Topacio by Sientochenta. Talk about making a statement!

Because of the warmer weather in the summer, you may want to opt for a more cropped pair of wide-leg pants, which will still pair well with sandals. Try a bold slide like the Emerald Alizee Sandals from Alta Shoes with Paralia’s Pantalón Gaia cropped, wide-leg pants that come in a cream or black. The ruffles at the bottom of the hem draw your eye to your shoes, so you can go subtle while still going bold.

Mules

A stylish, versatile, timeless shoe that for any season and that looks great with wide-leg pants would be the classic mule. Whether a flat, pointed-toe mule or a block heel, closed-toe mule, you can easily pair them with wide-leg pants.

For example, you could pair some white, low-heeled mules with these Pantalón Creta pants from Paralia for a stylish, effortless appearance. These pants also come in several colors, making them easy to style with any mule.

You could pair a brightly colored mule like a Fuschia or red flat, pointed-toe mule with those same pants mentioned above, or with lighter-colored pants such as the Nabel Martin Palazzo scart pant with a white top.

Palazzo pants date back to the 1920s but are hotter than ever. These pants are so flowy that someone might swear you’re rocking a skirt until you walk down the hallway — a true magic trick.

Another idea would be to style some black, flat mules with these leather, cropped Lucy Jeans by Thea Studio that have a bedazzled hem. This look is chic and dramatic. The neutral, flat shoes balance the big energy for a cold weather get-up I’ll remember all year long.

Boots

One of the best shoes to style with both cropped and full-length wide-leg pants would be boots. Both ankle boots and higher boots pair well with these pants, especially during the winter and fall months.

Even if you have a pair of cropped wide-leg pants, you can still pair any kind of ankle boot with them, even if it leaves some room between the hem of your pants and the top of your shoe. Exposing the ankle like this allows you to either leave your skin bare or add some novelty socks.

A pair of black Chelsea boots would pair well with these knit wide-leg Pantalones Salado pants from Blanca Pukara for a sleek, comfortable winter look.

You could also wear a taller, heeled black boot with these white and black Dual Colored pants by Nabel Martins and a black, long-sleeved bodysuit if you wanted to go for a dressier look for an evening out on the town. If I had to pick one word: dynamic.

A Wide Range of Options

One of the most exciting things you can come across is a piece of clothing that looks good, feels good, and can be styled in many different ways throughout the seasons. Wide-leg pants are one of these articles of clothing, which makes wearing and styling them exciting.

Pairing shoes with wide-leg pants adds to that excitement, and, due to the pants’ versatility, you can easily pair any kind of shoe with these pants. So, if you have a pair (or two) of wide-leg pants and a closet full of shoes, you’re ready to hit the runway.

Happy styling!
