5 Different Ways on How To Style Beige Pants
There are so many items that are deemed as closet essentials, but the question I find myself asking is, “What are my personal wardrobe staples?” I’ve come up with some answers, like a black midi skirt and a white button-down, but honestly, my list keeps growing longer and longer.
If I had to narrow it down, one of my more beloved closet essentials is a neutral beige pant. These pants can be dressed up or down, depending on how you style them. The versatility of this garment makes it one that I have to have on hand.
I’ve heard a lot of chatter recently about capsule wardrobes, and although the term has been around for a while, there’s definitely been a resurgence in its popularity with the trend of minimalism. If I created a capsule wardrobe, beige pants would definitely be included, and once you read more about how I style them, you’ll totally want a pair for yourself.
What’s So Great About Beige?
Beige is a neutral color that can be worn in many different ways. Whether you’re headed out shopping or spending a day in the office, beige pants work with the look.
You can dress beige pants up with a blouse, blazers, and loafers. This look is professional yet casual. With the rise in the popularity of light academia, this is the perfect way to remain on trend and comfortable.
Neutral Trousers in Fashion
The basic trouser has long been in the fashion world, but it’s actually relatively recent in women’s fashion, historically speaking. In the 1850s women’s rights movement, women protested for the right to wear pants, which were far comfier than corsets. Although society did push back, the necessity of women joining the workforce during WWII began the normalization of trousers in women’s fashion. Fashion = revolution, my friends.
Today, I couldn't imagine a world without beige pants in my closet. Whether I’m just running errands or need to pop by the office, I turn to some classic beige pants to build my ensemble around.
Types of Beige Pants
In order to find the perfect beige pants for your wardrobe, you first need to get familiar with the different styles that are out there.
I always advocate wearing what you want, no matter what, but sometimes figuring out what cut of pants fits you best can be difficult. Plus, we all have our personal preferences when it comes to the clothes we wear. That’s why I encourage everyone to review the long list of silhouettes and fabric types.
Here are some that I absolutely must mention:
Tapered
The tapered fit is generally self-explanatory. The leg of the pants narrow or “taper” as they near the ankle. This flattering fit looks chic with loafers, mules, or slides. Tapered beige pants also look fantastic with a brown tweed blazer.
Wide-Leg
Wide-leg pants are a popular style of beige pants that are quite the opposite of tapered pants. These pants widen as they near the ankle. They come in multiple lengths, the most popular being cropped or ankle length.
Linen
Linen pants are a comfortable and breezy take on beige pants. These pants are great for the warmer months when you want to stay cool while going about your daily activities.
Linen garments are a must-have for summer vacations and summer weddings. Being stylish can definitely mean being comfortable!
Where To Wear Beige Pants
Beige pants can be worn for practically any everyday occasion (and even some of those once-in-a-lifetime events). I’ve outlined some of my favs as inspiration for your next trip to the beach or just going about your daily tasks.
Running Errands
When I’m out and about running errands, I want to look put together while also remaining comfortable and not having my movement restricted. Beige pants are the perfect solution for this occasion. I typically pair my beige trousers with a flowy and breathable blouse and sneakers or high-fashion slides.
The Beach
Beige pants are the perfect neutral for a trip to the beach or a picnic in the sand. I especially love linen pants when I’m walking along the shore.
They’re breathable, and just something about the feeling of the soft material whipping against my skin while I walk makes me feel peaceful. I typically wear beige linen pants as a coverup for my swimsuit when I go straight from the pool to sipping iced coffee in the lounge.
With the rise of the coastal grandmother trend, I’ve found beige pants the perfect way to incorporate this fad into my wardrobe. Paired with a neutral tank top, an open white button-down, and a bucket hat, I feel perfectly ready to read my favorite book along the coast.
Parties and Showers
A beige pant is the perfect baseline to build a semi-formal outfit for a celebratory event like a party or a shower of some sort. Pop on an elegant blouse, and you've got an outfit that looks flawlessly effortless.
How To Style Beige Pants
With a Button-Down Top
One of the best ways to style your beige pants is with a button-down top tucked in. You can fully tuck in your shirt for a more professional look or do a simple French tuck for a casual edge.
Pop on a brown leather belt to portion off your outfit, and bam, you’ve got a sleek and put-together look.
Linen Pants and a Crop Top
If you’re looking to style your beige linen pants, I highly recommend a tank top or crop top.
If you’re moving a lot or out and about in the heat, look no further than athleisure: A cropped athletic top will keep on par with the breezy feel your outfit is going for.
With Loafers or Mules
A beige pant with a brown leather loafer is one of the most timeless looks. This classic look is both professional and academic. I wear this combo when I meet with coworkers for lunch or swing by the library to pick up some new reads.
If I want something quick yet still cute to wear, though, I pop on some mules. These convenient shoes slide on and off for ease of access while still leaving me looking professional and put-together.
A Blazer
Adding a blazer to complete your look is always a good idea. This sharp take on a jacket is professional while keeping you warm. I like to throw on a blazer along with my beige pants when I head into work meetings.
With Gold Jewelry
Gold jewelry compliments colors like brown and beige. That’s why I always have some on me when I’m wearing beige pants. I opt for gold huggie earrings, a matching delicate necklace, and a few gold rings for everyday wear.
Functional Yet Cool
Beige pants are a timeless wardrobe essential. These sleek pants are an excellent basis for any outfit, anywhere. Whether you’re meeting friends for weekend brunch or touching base with your supervisor at a work meeting, beige pants are the perfect starting point to build a sharp look.
All you need are the right garments and accessories to pair with them!
