I am a firm believer that footwear is the key to taking your outfit to the next level. If you pair the right shoes with your outfit, then nothing can stand in your way. When it comes to styling shoes, a pair of pumps will always elevate your look.

High Heels: For Everyone

Pumps are some of the most stylish and versatile shoes that you could have in your closet. Pumps are for everyone. Stilettos not your thing? No stress — rock a pair of low-heel best sellers. Closed-toe suede pumps are chic for winter, while peep toe kitten heels welcome the first steps of summer. 

You can also wear pumps to any event — be it a religious service, graduation ceremony, dinner party, or wedding. You can even wear them out to run errands if you so choose!

Pumps Shoes: Define and Refine

Let’s first define a “dress pump.” A pump has a heel height of one inch, while stilettos are taller.

When I’m headed to an outdoor wedding or garden party, there’s only one option for me when it comes to women’s pumps: wedge heels. I love a sexy stiletto heel, but they can sink right into the grass — a twisted ankle is not the accessory I had in mind.

On the subject of walking, besides the wedge, certain features like strap pumps (featuring an ankle strap) can help make every runway feel like a true, easy street. Block heel pumps are another option that are nearly as comfortable as your go-to loafers but have an unmistakable cosmopolitan edge. 

Heel Heights: The Basics

When it comes to high-heel pumps, heel height is often a super big factor. You have kitten heels which usually clock in at 1.5 to two inches tall. Kitten heel pumps are straight from the 1950s. For a similar throwback style, try patent leather Mary Jane pumps featuring that iconic round toe. 

Platform shoes add an extra one to four inches just from the platform under the toe. Platform pumps can boost this even higher with a heel.

Though I love sneakers and sandals, there’s just something so fun and exciting about wearing pumps. Because there are so many different styles of pumps out there, the possibilities are endless when it comes to styling them, which is one of my favorite things about these amazing shoes.
